Britain & Irelands' Vulnerable Native Breeds - the "Forgotten Dog Breeds"

Paul Keevil writes...

Paul and Scarlett - a Vulnerable Dandie Dinmont Terrier

In my work with British & Irish Vulnerable Dog Breeds, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to work with the BBC Countryfile production staff by providing 15 different British and Irish breeds of dog, which are now under threat, due to a decline in their numbers.

If you saw the programe [24th February 2008 1100 GMT] you will see that we were blessed with a beautifully sunny winter's day to do our filming and I think you will agree the dogs made a memorable sight.

If you would like to know more about any of the breeds which appeared in the feature, you will find on this page links to the recognised UK breed clubs - simply click on the links below the images.

Failing that if you do have any questions then please feel free to e-mail me personally [link at the bottom of this page] and I will do my best to help.

Thank you for your interest in Britain and Ireland's "forgotten" breeds, may they soon begin to flourish once more.
